About Stephenie

British pianist, Stephenie Leung graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music in 2011 with a Master's Degree in Piano Performance under the tutelage of concert pianist, Sally-Ann Macleod. During her time as a student at the RNCM, Stephenie also studied Piano Accompaniment with Dr. David Jones. She was invited by the Head of Keyboards to participate at the College's Chopin Festival and American Festival in which she performed works by Chopin and American composer, Charles Griffes respectively. Prior to her studies at the RNCM, Stephenie graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Music, BMus (Hons) from the University of Leeds in 2008. As part of her studies in Leeds, she studied as an ERASMUS student with French pianist, Dany Rouet, at Conservatoire de Strasbourg in France. 

Born in Hong Kong, Stephenie had her first public performance at Shatin Town Hall at the age of ten. Since then, she has been passionate about performing and sharing her love for music with other musicians and music lovers on stage and off stage. 

To date, Stephenie has performed as soloist and chamber musician in prestigious venues throughout the UK, including St. James' Piccadilly (London), Leeds Town Hall, Lincoln Cathedral, Ripon Cathedral, Foundling Museum, Sheffield Cathedral, and many festivals including the Harrogate International Festival, Chorlton Arts Festival, Barton Arts Festival.

Stephenie has had the privilege to have worked with many well-known concert pianists and professors such as Stephen Hough, Julius Drake, Michel Beroff, Artur Pizarro, Norma Fisher, Vanessa Latarche, Ian Buckle, Alkesandra Zvirblyte, Mary Wu, Franz Cheung-Yu Mo and Peter Hill, to name but a few. 

Between 2011 and 2017, Stephenie had been working closely with soprano singer, Chloe Saywell, as a duo for Live Music Now, a Charity founded by Yehudi Menuhin. They worked extensively in different communities and places such as care homes for elderly and adults with learning difficulties, special schools, hospices and hospitals and for four years, they had been involved in "Songs and Scones" in Amotherby, an ongoing monthly event to combat loneliness and isolation amongst elderly people living in rural areas. With her work for LMN, she has had the wonderful opportunity of meeting and playing in front of the highly respected music educator, Dame Fanny Waterman. 

Apart from working as musicians in residence for LMN, Stephenie has been working with pianist, Lloyd Buck for a long time. Together, they have performed in many Piano Duet concerts up and down the country.

Since 2017, Stephenie has been accepted as a professional member of EPTA (European Piano Teachers Association) and dedicates her time and energy on music education. Apart from teaching, she also attends courses to better herself as a music educator, researches and creates teaching materials for herself and all the students at her studio. 

On Sundays, you often find Stephenie playing for Sunday services at Central Methodist Church, where she has been working as a freelance church pianist for a number of years. Since 2017, she has also started leading the small church choir. In her spare time, Stephenie enjoys reading, travelling and learning languages.
